Dame Zandra Rhodes
– a color explosion
Iconic fashion and textile designer Zandra Rhodes celebrates 50 years
in the fashion industry. She is current with several interesting projects
in Sweden, among them an upcoming collaboration with IKEA, prints
for Absolute Art and during Summer Design Week her work will be on
display at Stockholms Auktionsverk.
ZANDRA RHODES was a guest influencer
at Formex this January and made the
headlines with her unique and bold designs.
“Colors make people happy! It affects our
mood more than we know”, she says. The
quote reflects her whole essence. Zandra
Rhodes is famous for her artful prints and
patterns, which are matched by a pink hair
and personal style that is at least as colorful.
The collaboration with IKEA will be
a merge of her design aesthetics and the
Swedish furniture giant’s democratic design
values. About the project she says “IKEA is
such an overwhelmingly worldwide company
and I’m honored to be designing for them”.
During Summer Design Week in
Stockholm, Zandra Rhodes will display
pieces from her fashion archives. These
will also be out for auction at Stockholms
Auktionsverk. The items will be on public
display in an exhibition format at the
entrance hall. Her hand-drawn prints tell
stories of her journey as a person and as an
artist. The gorgeous limited-edition screen
prints for Absolut Art will also be on display
and for sale at the event.
About design in Scandinavian she says,
“I have incredible respect for Scandinavian
design and have always regarded it as the
height of chicness and usability.
